So my 10D is geting long in the tooth now, shutter has ceased to work, so the only way i can use it is with remote shutter release, repair is not worth it, so i'm considering a 30D as a replacement, i have a feeling the upcoming 40D is going to a bit out of my budget, can afford up to £500ish

Am hoping the 30D comes down a tad with the impending 40D release. So anyway, what improvements will i see from my 10D?

An extra 2MP, bigger screen, RGB histograph, E-TTL II support, DIGIC II, 2 extra focus points, spot metering, bigger battery, 5 fps, bigger buffer, USB 2.0, slightly lighter and slightly smaller.

I think that's pretty much all.

Some people upgrading from the 10D to 20/30D have noted that the images are sharpened less by the camera so at first glance (especially for JPEG users) it can appear it produces a softer image. The 20/30D also has a louder shutter (I think it must be one of loudest on the market).

Have you heard an EOS 3 fire ? :) You certainly know it's tripped.

Personaly I'd wait untill the end of August to see what canon do and what that will do to prices..
