My PC spec is basically:-

GigabyteGA-880GM-UD2H (F8 bios)
955 B/E chip
8 gig DDR3 ram (2x4gig)
VTX 6790 1 gig
OCZ Agility3 64gig
Western Digital ST3500320AS 320gig
ASUS soundcard Xonar DG
Samsung DVD RW
Antec 600W PSU
I-Win griffin case (yellow)

AOC F22 monitor (full HD)

Saved up a bit of cash and might try to upgrade the odd component, is it worth upgrading anything? I thought maybe put a better board in so I can drop an AM3 chip in sometime later? or should I leave as is?

I play the odd game, mainly playing Mechwarrior online and the new Medal of honor game, both play well at good settings, not messed around with over clocking at all really.

So basically; save or spend?

First off, overclock the CPU to about 3.7GHz if you have not already done so.

Now, the 6790 isn't a bad GPU, but you can potentially double your framerates with an upgrade to a HD7850. If you wish to upgrade anything at all, that is your best option. The phenom II is still an excellent chip.

i have just finished taking apart my 955 rig done me proud had 3 years of top notch gaming and doesnt struggle now with anything but i decided its time to upgrade and have gone intel this time

if my am3 board would have allowed the new pd chips id of gone for that

at end of day if you can play what you like how you like then no real reason to upgrade. main reason i upgraded for was cause i do a lot of editing so ill really notice the increase . gaming was fine on the 955 and will be for another year min yet.

id oc cpu to 3.6-3.8 maybe pick up a second hand 6950 .
