Wow! so my current build is 6 years old, and to be fair it's done me really well.

It still boots up quick and all normal day to day stuff, surfing the net, using windows (win 10), Microsoft office etc. are absolutely fine, i don't notice any slow down in anything I'm trying to do.

Most of my games are on average to high settings and are OK, this is possibly because my monitors are only 2x Dell 2209WAf @ 1680 x 1050 so not too demanding on the GPU.

Lately, I've been messing around in DCS, and I'm getting some low FPS, I don't have the cash for a whole new build so was thinking of adding a new GPU.

Current spec is:

MSI GeForce GTX 560Ti OC Twin FrozR II 2048MB
Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 (OC @ 4.2GHz)
Corsair XMS3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (2 sets so 16 Gb Total)
Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
Samsung 500GB 850 EVO SSD
Cooler Master HAF 912 Plus Case - Black
Cooler Master Silent Pro Modular 600W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply
Gelid Tranquillo CPU Cooler (Socket 754939940AM2AM2+AM3LGA775LGA1155LGA1156LGA1366)

Whats my best move, new GPU? was thinking 1060, can't really afford anything else at this time... Would it work in my current spec?

Or should I just wait until I can afford a new build?

Any ideas...as I'm unsure what to do?

Considering the OC in place I think the 2500K is still pretty OK but yeah that 560Ti is ancient, about the same speed as a £70 GT1030 now.

GTX1060 6GB would be a great upgrade, putting aside the bonkers prices at the moment.

A GTX1050Ti would be a very solid upgrade either if you'd rather keep it on the cheap.

GPU, possibly CPU depending on what gpu you go for. What's your budget?

I was thinking a 1060, so £200-250

Maybe its an option to save some money and just put £100 on a 1050, could keep me going a bit longer... Tho its not massively better than what I have so not sure.

i7 K chip and gtx 1050ti :)
I7 should give system a bit longer span :)

I'd pretty much agree with this. Rounds out the system very nicely and you get a pretty significant boost on both the CPU and GPU front.

Considering your monitor is 1680x1050 (I missed that at first) the 1050Ti is good for high-ultra in most games.

Can I still buy the i7 K chip new, or would I have to look on eBay? (I don't understand all the different sockets, chips and motherboard compatibility so not sure exactly what I'm looking for)

If I got just a 1060, would my CPU limit its potential then?
