One of my 2gb sticks of Ram is dead. Keeps causing BSOD and other problems. Been wanting an SSD for a while now.

Current spec.

Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel
Samsung SpinPoint F1 320GB SATA-II 16MB
AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 955
Asus M4A79XTD Evo
Corsair H50
ATI 5850

Looking to buy OCZ Vertex 2E 60GB but unsure what ram I should go for. 4gb or 6gb? Whats the best I can get for my money?

Budget £200~

No warrenty on your ram?
Personally i'd get that hard drive you chose and buy a 4gb kit of the ram you have, and assuming corsair will replace your faulty ram, once it comes back you will have 8GB :)

I just posted an RMA thread for the ram. Bought the ram back in feb 2010. Not sure about getting 8gb... don't think I've ever needed to even use more than 4gb ram.

:D

maybe buy a the same corsair ram and use that while you wait for your RAM to get fixed then when it comes back you have 8gb. i know you said you dont need 8gb but it will be there when you need :D although ive read somewhere that the more ram stick you have it will affect the overclocking ablilities or something along those lines

AMD runs at 1.9V, its Intel which runs at 1.65, the RAM I specced has lower latency, cas7 vs your current cas9, though yeah if you simply RMA your existing RAM thats prob best actually, save spending any money, thered be no point mixing and matching the RAM sets as theyd run at lowest speed

thats assuming u can live with no pc, or can borrow some ram from a friends pc till urs comes back. That was my main reason for suggesting another 4gb of the same.
