Hey folks just after a bit of a steer really, looking to update my pc to something that is capable of running battlefield 3 at a nice setting + a few more games in the future.

Current setup is

I7 920 D0 - currently running stock with stock cooler (one area I do want to sort out)
6gb patriot DDR3 ram not sure on the speed or timings on this but it's not good.
gfx = 460gtx 768mb card
mobo - Asus P6T-SE
550w enermax psu - needs changing
and an NZXT zero case - I would like to change this.

My main desires are a new PSU, case and cooling but if you think anywhere else could be easily improved let me know. Must be quiet.

Also I game at 1680 x 1050 due to my monitor.

Any suggestions? Say a budget of £300 max.

Cheers folks :)

All you need for BF3 is a graphics card really. The I7 and ram you have is pretty decent. The card is ok but might not run BF3 in high settings.

I've just bought a Radeon 6950 from OcUK for £200 with 2 free games (which I've sold and have paid for BF3 pre-order!).

I was kind of thinking, new psu, new case + cooling, then I have a 260gtx + the 460gtx that I could sell. to make up the difference for a new gfx card? Thoughts? + suggestions I'm well out of touch with which gfx card is currently providing best bang for buck.

in my opinion i would just wait a month or two for the hd 7xxx series cards to come out, prices of older 6xxx cards will drop, as knubje said, your system is more than capable of running bf3 at max with a new graphics card and the new hd 7xxx series have a lot lower power usage so you wouldnt even need to upgrade your psu...

Guys I'm thinking I might just order Ak!ta's suggested PSU + cooler for the time being and wait until the game comes out before I order it. Thought's? or any better options?

the xfx in particular is very nice, its a seasonic built design and has four pci-e connectors for multiple gpu's

As for the 6870 he linked to, this is much cheaper - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-143-OK

Cheers stulid, the non modular thing doesn't both me in the slightest, my case has no windows and I just tuck them above my dvd drive :)
