More and more games are supporting multicore cpus so dual core is always a good idea, just make sure you have the AMD driver and dual core optimiser installed to take full advantage.
PaulProteus said:Steve258, I am in the same position as the OP moving from AMD A64 3500 to X2 4800. As I am not doing full upgrade (I am still on S939) I decided to go this way (for at least another year before AMD have their 65nm or move to the Dark side).
My question is (and I hope I am not hijacking the OP's thread) when you say AMD driver and optimiser, do you mean the chipset that Nvidia released to cover the X2 or is it something else I need to download. I have downloaded the latest BIOS 1016 for A8N Sli Deluxe and hope to be OK. Is tis really enough?
Any thoughts and advice?
Cheers,
