Upgrade time

This is what I currently have & what im thinking of changing to, let me know your thoughts.

P4 3.2Ghz 800
8KNXP Ultra
X800XT PE 250mb AGP
1GB (2x512mb) Corsair PC3200XL PRO

To...

Opteron 146 OEM
Arctic Cooling Silencer64 Ultra TC
Asrock 939DUAL-SATA2 S939 PCI-E/AGP USB2 Lan 7.1Ch Audio

Keeping my current ram, gfx card & PSU

is it a performance increase, or am i better off saving for an Asus board with an X2 chip, but also having to replace the psu, gfx card etc...

how much you wanting to spend? also what do you want? Mobo, Processor?

I think you've still got a pretty good system there, could maybe wait until the new M2 comes out before upgrading.

I'd wait a bit..thats a good kid indeed.. Maybe save up a bit more and do a bigger upgrade

I was just thinking of upgrading due to the cheapness of the Opteron, 64bit, SSE3 & being able to use my existing psu & video card.

The x2 chips are out of my price range & we will just have to wait & see with the AM2.

i'll hang fire then for the time being...
