am2 x2 4200 @ stock 2.21ghz
2gb ddr2 generic ram
7900gtx 512
I also have another identical 7900gtx card sitting around and was able to SLI them in xp but not vista. Through much searching I have come to the conclusion that this is because they both under vista try to allocate 1.5gb ram incase tis needed and as I only have 2gb ram, even if they dont use it, it conflicts.
As a partial solution and because I need an upgrade anyway I am thinking of buying:
OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C5 Dual Channel Vista Gold Series DDR2
£55.21
AMD Phenom Quad Core 9500 2.20GHz (Socket AM2) - Retail
£123.36
these should on their own boost my system nicely, but add to that another 7900gtx and things should very much improve!
I am basically wondering if I am going mad with my plans or even how much of a boost I would see. I play Supreme commander dual screen a lot, but only on small maps atm!
