I have a ATI 4850 which is very nice, i had tried 2 4850's in crossfire and did not like it at all. Bit Too much heat, not great drivers (could be fixed in time) etc etc.
Now i do like ATI and am looking at a 4870 1gb or a Nvidia 260. I have about 230quid to spend.
I have an X48mobo so in many ways an ATI would make more sense.

I have been looking at these two models:

4870 1gb

NV 260

Both cards look like they vnet heat out of the back of the case which is something i really want, I just wanted some opinions on the cards, especially in terms of heat, noise, performance.

Im swayed with ATI because of DDR5 RAM, 1 gb DX10.1. Never had issues with them and i have a X48 mobo (in case i do decide to go crossfire when drivers get better).

For nvidia Cause they seem to be good at overclocking, but the tech seems older, and its not 1gb. I have had problems with an 8800gt that kept crashing driver in vista 32bit. Im not closed to them though!

THis is a new OS 64 and new mobo DFI x48. The gt was nice performance wise, but for some reason the driver kept crahsing i i could never ever fix it. Was an Asus mobo with a nvidia chipset (p5n-e)!

its your money and everything but im just wondering why the upgrade? If i was you personally I'd save your money until the next batch of cards are arriving the 4850 is still a decent card

Thats all I have to say about Asus P5 boards especially in relation to nVidia drivers...

Personally I'd go for a 260GTX - I've had a really great experience with mine so far.

LOL! I like it. Yeah my DFI seems good atm.

Why upgrade? Well i dont know when new cards are coming out, plus in the computer world you can always wait for something better. And new batch = expensive.
Pluse i dont think my 4850 has quite enough grunt.
