I am looking at upgrading the cpu/mb and ram on my 2nd pc.
It is used mostly for gaming and its current specs are :
cpu : Opty 1700
MB : Asus A8N SLI Premium
Ram : 2 x 1 gig sticks pc 3200
O/S XP 32bit

current gfx card is a PCIe -8800GT 512 which will not be upgraded at this time.

I have at my disposal 4x1 gig sticks of ddr2 geil pc6400 ram which i could use in the upgrade as long as the new board would not mind using 4 sticks as apposted to me buying 2x2gig sticks of some new RAM

My budget would be around the £150 region
Can anyone recommend me a good cpu/board + mem if required that would improve on the current set up which seems to be slow when loading stuff (more like lack of ram)

You can't go wrong with the above with a limited budget of £150 - for memory, cpu and MB.

The E5200 is a very giving CPU and will overclock easily to 3.3/5Ghz with very little effort. Although, i would recommend spending an extra ~£15 and getting a semi-decent third party cooler to make the clocking process easier.

Thank you that looks like a nice cheap upgrade.
Does anyone know if the Geil ddr2 pc6400 memory has any issues with this board , ( ofc apart from maybee needing the voltage increased to get it to boot with more than 1 stick in it) ?
