upgrading to a sandy bridge system
i2500K/i2600K mainly gaming so looking at i2500K
Asrock Extreme7 Gen3(ordered was thinking about Extreme4 Gen3 but gave into temptation)
2x Sapphire 6950 2GB Toxic(ordered 25th will be getting tomorrow)
128GB Crucial M4(ordered same time as asrock mb)
8GB PC3-12800 1600MHZ RAM(not sure what, thinking Corsair Vengence LP Black)
Arctic Freezer 7 Pro Rev 2(have, will be upgrading to better cooler later)
Coolermaster Real Power M850(have had for 3yrs)
will be reusing the optical drive, hard disks, case, sound card, monitor, os, mouse, keyboard and speakers.
along with the u2711 this upgrade will cost me ~£1500, was only planning CPU, MB & RAM but the monitor going on the fritz ment I had to get a new one(tho I went overkill on the U2711, was thinking U2412M or U2410) and the 5850 wouldn't be upto the task was planning on holding for new Amd/Nvidia cards but couldn't resist. again with the ssd couldn't resist
hoping that with a few tweaks over time this'll last me for a few years,
possible future upgrades:
3rd 6950 in the future
better cpu cooler(maybe watercooling but will require moving to bigger case)
better sound card(have logitech Z5500 speaker tho not used since I got them 1 1/2yrs ago as been meaning to tidy the table/room so could fit them on but never got around to it)
maybe moving system to bigger case(black case to go with the black motherboard, black ram, black psu black cooler on the 6950) for better airflow for the 6950s.
p.s. only thing I need to order is the CPU & RAM
