Just finished installign Tomb Raider, stuck it on ultimate, 17fps :(
Tweaked the setting a bit 19fps :( :(

Screen is 2560*1440

GFX is a 6950 TwinFrozrIII (never clocked or flashed)
Worth grabbing a 2nd and Xfiring?

Or what would the next option be for new without breaking the bank?
Max say 200ish

Mobo is a Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H
PSU Is a 800w be quiet (I think it's been a while lol)

I originally bought 2 6950s and had them runnin for a bit in the run up for BF3 then all my mates decided not to play so sold the 2nd card

It has the bios switch i all I know, not sure if its flashable/modable in any way.
Is there a safe way to check? Maybe tempted to flash with a 6970 bios is possible

I'd say stick it out for the next refresh, the 6950 is no slouch, so unless you are really feeling the pinch just hold tight. They are cheap second hand though so... I crossfired 5850s and had no problems, got some epic gains, some games just didn't support CF properly. Some people say they have nothing but trouble with CF. Weather TR supports CF well, IDK

ive got 2 6950 in crossfire, both are the his iceq x turbo 2gig versions, you should be able to unlock the shaders on the card as there are plenty of modified 6950 bios with shader unlocks out there, I managed to flash both of my cards with it and have unlocked the shaders, best bet is to get a 2nd card for approx. £100ish, then overclock them using afterburner or some other program to stock 6970 speeds as flashing the bios could be risky and if your not confident doing it you could brick your card. I am currently downloading tomb raider so I will let you know how I get on I will run the benchmark on max settings and see how I do

Cool cheers dude :)

Yeah was pondering having a fiddle OCing it too

£200 after selling the existing card or before it? Personally I'd try and get a second hand 7950/70 if the funds allow it. Having more than 1 card can be a royal pain in the backside due to waiting on driver updates constantly, that might not even work properly after all the waiting, limiting you to still only being able to use 1 card anyway.
