Its around about that time where i start to upgrade this old machine, GPU was recently aquired along with the PSU so really looking at CPU/Mobo and RAM upgrades!

  • CPU: i5-2500k
  • Mobo: ASus P8Z68-V LX
  • RAM: 4x2gb Corsair Value 666mhz
  • GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 780 SC ACX 3GB
  • PSU: Corsair CX750
  • Case: CM HAF 912

The ram is terrible :p

IMO the only thing you need upgrade is the ram. Also get a decent cooler for the i5 2500K and overclock the nut of it...the new gen i5-K are barely faster to be honest, as they are faster than the 2500K on the same clock, they rarely be able to overclock as high.

And yes...a SSD would go a long way.

Probably should have mentioned, got an SSD already and the cooler for the 2500k is a Thermaltake Frio, never really looked into properly OC'ing the cpu so i guess thats the next step :)

your pc looks pretty capable already apart from the terrible ram as you've stated :p so yeah, buy some ram and maybe get a moderate overclock going, nothing too insane required i wouldn't imagine
