Right guys,

time for an upgrade, last upgrade was 9th January 2011 with Sandybridge. I made a balls up by not knowing about the K versions and order the 2400 haha so this time. I don't want to make that mistake, the system will be primarily used for gaming - Elite:Dangerous, Battlefield etc, browsing the internet etc usual stuff. Also do i go for the R290 or a Nvidia equivalent?

If you think I could do better please let me know, but i want to keep it around the same price.

Current setup-
I5 2400 (Sandybridge)
Asus P8P67 LE
8GB Patriot Viper Extreme
ATI Radeon 6950 2GB

Both of those systems are massive overkill for gaming. If like you say you are just gaming, then I would stick with socket 1150.

Also red hard drives are more for NAS storage than day to day use. I would go with a WD Blue or similar.

I will do a spec in a few mins.

A 4K monitor is still pretty hard to drive even with dual cards. You won't get 60FPS on a lot of games.

The monitor above is 1440P which is a little less brutal on the gpu's. Also it is a gsync monitor, so screen tearing should be reduced.

The Phanteks is a better case imo, although that is personal preference. I don't know if the H105 fits the Aerocool case though.

You could reuse your old Patriot Ram if you wanted.

Was wanting to upgrade to X99 and DDR4.

Cost wise , i don't spend every year so this will be another 3/4 years before i order again.

I think ill stick to the 4K monitor, and just get another GPU in 6 months time.

So many opinions , I just want the newest parts. Simple.

You won't be running a 4K monitor with a single gpu though. It doesn't have enough horsepower. You need dual cards to get decent framerates. Even then you won't be maxing out @ 60FPS on most games.

Its just that X99 and DDR4 won't make much difference for gaming so its better to spend that on your GPU(s).
