OK so I currently have a fx 6300 @ 4.6ghz and a MSI r9 290 gaming. I'm wondering if I upgrade to a fx 8350 I would get any more performance from the 290? The PC is used with a 1080 TV and used for games and movies . or just stick with what I have and save money and go Intel in a few months time. The 6300 runs around 60% during gaming but I've just come from a HD 7950 and the 290 only seems around 10% faster. I'd this normal or is the CPU holding it back?

Thanks in advance guys
Dave.

I don't believe that you would get enough of a performance boost upgrading from a FX6300 to an FX8350 at this time that's worth the money and the effort in upgrading.

I'd suggest waiting a few months and decide if you need an upgrade then, either to a newer AMD or Intel.

Thanks for the reply linktoinsanity. I keep looking at the i5 4690k so i think I've already made my mind up. I just don't want to be getting a new CPU and mobo and not noticing much of a difference in games.

The CPU will run around 60% . but most of the time the GPU is up and down from 70% - 100%. Also the loading screens in games like cod ghosts, cod AW, bf4 all stutter like crazy while the CPU is at 100%.

COD Ghosts loading screen does that to me too, on SLI Titan Black and a 3970x.

AW is just as bad, the cut scenes have about a three second delay between lip movement and speaking lol.

I wouldn't worry about that.

That good to know Andy, I to get the lip delay. Well I'll start saving for the i5 and the sell the CPU n mobo I have now to pay for the new mobo. Hopefully the new i5 will last me 3+ years.
