Hi

The time has come to upgrade my current PC, after 6 years its time to move on from a I7 920.

I have approx £1800 to spend upgrading from the below PC spec, will be mainly used for gaming.

Asus P6T Deluxe
I7 920 @ 3.4GHz
6GB Ram
750GB hhd
512GB 840 Pro (keep)
Titan X (keep)
1300w Tagan piperock psu
Cosmos Sport Case

I currently have DGM 1440p monitor and a cheap keyboard too.

I am not sure whether to go the X99 over-clocked bundle route or Z97 over-clocked bundle route. Should I go all out for 5960x, fast DD4 and good motherboard or go cheaper Z97 and get another Titan X for Sli, or possibly middle ground with a 5820k bundle and perhaps 4k monitor?

I do need another SSD of at least 500GB and windows 8.

I am also going be giving my 920 (Coolermaster V8 sink on top) to my parents so a cheap case and PSU will also be required to house this, however that can be added on additionally to the budget.

Thoughts and feedback will be appreciated, I hope to place order in next 5 days so I can put together next weekend.

Thanks

Jim

Thanks for the feedback so far, hmm maybe it would be better giving my folks the Cosmos case and Tagan PSU and buy new case and PSU for myself.

There is an old X800 pro which I can put in there for them.

Ok cool

Think we are getting close now.

Corsair Obsidian 900D Super Tower Case (CC-9011022-WW) £299.99
MSI X99S SLI Plus - TeamGroup 16GB 2400MHz DDR4 Intel X99 Motherboard Bundle £249.98
K 3.30GHz (Haswell-E) Socket LGA2011-V3 Processor - Retail £319.99
Samsung 500GB 850 EVO SSD £155.99
EVGA Superflow G2 1000w £134.99

Phanteks PH-TC14PE CPU Cooler - Black £69.98
LG BH08LS20 8x Blu-Ray-RW/DVD±RW Drive £59.99

Total : £1,388.60

I quite like the big cases so went for 900D, Added optical drive and Windows. Not too fussed about the cable sets.

Would a 1000w psu allow for a additional Titan x in the future for SLI or would I need a bigger psu?

Is there much of a difference between a 5820k and 5930k?

Ok, that case does look good and it would save me some money too.......

However my folks have agreed to buy my pc less the Titan X and the 840 pro for £300 so my budget is now £1800.

Worth pushing the boat out for the 5960X ?
