So after a very short time realistically I've decided I enjoy PC gaming, a PC is of huge benefit to me and the first build I did has sparked the need to upgrade.

At the moment, Im running a 3600, B450 tomahawk Max, Zotac 1660Ti with Samsung Evo NVME, WD Green SSD, 32gb corsair vengeance and a H150i Cooler.

With the new Zen3 and 30xx Series of cards. Im thinking to upgrade pretty much everything in my system.

X570 Tomahawk Max Board
Zen 3 Processor (Will probably look at a 3950x if im honest with you)
3080 GPU, not sure on brand yet. Still time to decide.
Add in extra NVME and SSD storage as im getting low on what I have now.

Im also thinking its time for a case upgrade to a Lian Li O11 Dynamic as I prefer the looks and could top mount my 360 rad rather than the front mount.

Thoughts? Im not clued up on the X570 Boards and couldn't really establish what the best out there is. So sticking with what I know essentially.

Thanks! (Oh, and my first post, so hello all)

I've just purchased the Tomahawk x570 mag wifi board for my winter project. very nice looking board, I've not used AMD boards for 20 years so bit out of touch but has very good reviews.

I'm looking at either a 5900 or 5950 depending on whats available on 5th November.

I'll be sticking with my 1080ti for now until the 3000 series settles down, probably wait till the 3090ti arrives.

For the case I went for the BeQuiet dark pro 900, bit of a beast but having unpacked it tonight have to say the build quality is amazing.

Looking forward to reading how your build goes, remember to take your time & take pictures so they can be shared, I didn't take many on my last build & regretted it.

The 011 dynamic is a lovely case (I have one) :) ).

As Mickyflinn said there isnt much advantage going up to a x570 board from your b450 one unless you cant wait to use a zen 3 until January. Pcie-4 is nice to have but has litttle real world advantage yet over pci-e 3.

Unless your gaming in 4K there is little point in getting a 3080 as its overkill for 1080p and in 1440p unless you have a high refresh monitor. A 3060/3070 woud make more sense IMHO.

Also a 5950x is pointless unless your going to do something that actually uses all those cores. In general 8 core is going to be the sweetspot as most games are built for consoles and they are all 8 core 16 thread this coming gneration.
