I'm currently running an i5 4670k and when playing games I struggle to stream at good settings (720p 60fps Lanzcos filter) without getting a considerably noticeable drop in performance. I've got a GTX 780 and 8GB of RAM so they shouldn't be causing the performance drop. My question is: Will upgrading from my i5 4670k to the i7 4770k allow me to stream on OBS without my FPS taking a considerable turn for the worse?

At the moment I can play at 100fps without streaming and it'll drop to 60 when I turn it on. Whilst that isn't much of an issue, I'll be constantly dropping lower to 40-50 FPS and I'll have a crap load of dropped frames.

I'm willing to buy the i7 and just give the i5 away (too late for a refund) but I don't want to if it won't help my performance.

Just a thought - if you're broadcasting to Twitch, have you tried using Shadowplay? Negligible performance impact even at 1080p for me - not that my connection can handle that!
