Upgrade to 7870

Cheers wazza,
It the above that's stopping me clicking the buy button:(, my biggest problem is i have no patience at all and the wait for better deals or things to come in stock is killing me.

its upto you either will be better all comes down to patience if you want the 7950

the 7870 will match or maybe be slightly faster than a stock 7950 but the 7950 can also overclock

take into account the bundled games, flog those and your down to the 7870 price

If you want the card to last until a couple of months after the 9950s come out before you sell it, you'll want something decent - the 7950 is definitely that.

have two twin frozr 3 (7850's) mind, they are fantastic cant see the 7950 to be any different, great coolers

oh dear

what memory you have?(nevr mind read your sig) ones with tall heatsinks?

the k2 mount doom is a good choice for aircooler, has decent clearance too, probably cool better than the h100

That was the 7870 I was looking at (really liked the look of the 78XX series), but when the price drop on the 7950 I couldn't justify it, with selling a couple of the bundled games the price is back nearer my £150 'soft' budget I'd set myself! ;)

What threw me was the 7870 is already running pretty high and probably wouldn't clock much more, the 7950 (for a bit more cost) should clock higher as stock speed is fairly low. Lots of extra stream processors and TU's with higher OC potential for +£20-30 more!
