System specs

X2 255 3.4 Ghz oc
GTX560Ti OC
Asus M5A78l-M USB3
23" Viewsonic HD Monitor

General BD is not worth it and your much better of going intel.

But in your case, I think it would be very worth it.

Get a decent cooler so you can overclock it and you most defo should see an improvement.

Generally you will see a big improvement.

See benchies between your cpu and the 8150.

The cpu you have at the moment is a massive bottle neck, upgrading to a BD cpu will bring you up to speed - 2012 so to speak.

I think BF3 is multi core aware so you should see an improvement.

Phenom 2 as far as I can tell has been discontinued.

I don’t think you should worry about this.

At the price the 8120 will be a pretty big upgrade for you.

And if you where to upgrade to Windows 8 in the future, the processor should improve a little bit, as Windows 8 is more aware of how the BD chips work, than Win 7.

For you I think it would make a very good relatively inexpensive upgrade.

How knowledgeable are you about overcloking?

If your comfortable doing it, then get the chip if not, then maybe get the 8120@8150 speeds chip.

---

Just to put the cat amongst the pidgeons, you would see a truely massive performance boost going to an intel 2500k or 3570k platform.

But of course that means new mobo, cpu and ram....

I have watched a lot of videos on YouTube on how to overclock the 8120 and it seems you can get to 4ghz on stock voltage so as far as doing that am okay just when it comes to changing the voltages am a bit unsure of

Thanks for your help

He'd still have to overclock the 8120@8150 speed chip.

It's just an 8120 guaranteed to overclock to the same speed as the 8150.

As long as he's buying before the offer price ends he might as well just get the "normal" 8120 if going down that route.

so i have decided to buy this processor i know how to overclock using the fsb and or multiplyer but do i need to turn anything off in bios with this chip ex cool and quiet etc?

8120 is a fine cpu (not saying that because i bought one on release), Turn off AMD turbo if your guna OC and you should be fine.
