Hi guys,

Thanks in advance for the help.

I am currently looking at an upgrade to my PC. I play WoW and other none stressful graphic games.

I currently have a Gigabyte Nvidia GTX 770 OC 4GB which along with an SSD, case, and general CD drive is all I am looking to keep if possible.

My upgrade parts I have in mind are currently:

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £522.46
(includes shipping: £10.50)

Whats peoples thoughts?

Thanks again.

Jamie

I will submit full specs of current PC once I'm at home later.

In short, its dated, hence the replacement of all major parts above:

Intel Core i3 530 2.93GHz
Graphics card stated above.
Unknown motherboard
Antec 300 case.
750w gold PSU - Corsair I believe.

Thanks

Jamie

As promised:

Looking at ordering this week so any hints/tips would be greatly appreciated, lost touch with the PC building world a while a go and wanting to get back into it.

As can be seen, a complete overhaul is due!

Thanks

Jamie

For the CPU, Cooler, MOBO & Ram I was looking around £5/600 max.

If more parts need replacing then so be it, but above seems to be the key issue? If I have issues with the graphics card once above is sorted I will cross that bridge then, unless someone can advise otherwise.

Here's a cheaper alternative, are you planning to OC your CPU? if not this can be done quite a bit cheaper. No need for AIO.

Might be worth investing in a new case, Phantek p400 is very good choice, and reasonbly priced.

Once again, thanks for your help Sweols.

I have overclocked in the past and would like to have the option to do so in the future.

Cooler & CPU to one side as 6600k is pretty much a done deal - is there a noticeable difference in mine/your ram choice? I have read a few reviews and Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000mhz seems to be doing great?

Motherboard is the item I literally have no clue on where to go.

Point taken on the case, will add it to the order.

Money isn't a huge issue here, just don't want to go over the top for no real reason.

Hi W88TTO,

Apart from you being £15 better off, not really.

Changed the motherboard+cpu package, for cheaper deal.

Less than £500, you could spend the rest on upgrading your GPU. Maybe a handsome RX 480 nitro when they are released at end of the month??

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £467.15
(includes shipping: £13.20)

If you're desperate to try an AIO. I'd highly recommend OCUK's labtechs version but unfortunately they're out of stock.
Another good option
My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £81.89
(includes shipping: £9.90)

To be completely honest, i'd stick with aircooling. Less parts to go wrong even though maintainance for todays AIO's are nill, there're still more moving parts, and therefor more likely to break down.

Fantastic, thanks for your help.

I think you are right with the GPU. Although not as dated, chances are it will need updating in the near future.

Will get ordering!

Forgot to mention, you'll most probably need thermal compound, as it doesn't mention anything about pre applied compound in 212 description.

I believe that the 212 comes with a small tube of Coolermaster paste. Personally I'd get some paste anyway as it's always useful to have some spare in case you have to re-seat the cooler.

I've used Arctic Silver 5, Prolimatech PK-1, Arctic Cooling MX-4 and Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut. TBH, paste is paste.
