Lads,
thinking off replacing the FX-53 in my system with a 4800+..
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4800+ (Socket 939) - Retail (ADA4800CDBOX) (CP-129-AM)
Anybody bought one of these ?
If so, am I right in assuming that these carry 2mb L2 cache...i.e. 1mb per core ?
Anybody have any issues with these CPUs in a DFI SLI-DR..

Cheers

No issues with my DFI board and my X2 - slotted her in and booted up and was recognised correctly first time. Shouldn't have any problems if you have a reasonably up-to-date bios. :)

Thanx lads,
might give the chip a go.............worst I can expect is equal performance to the FX-53 with dual-core multitasking advantage..
Not prepared to take the jump to Conroe yet......would mean changing board, chip and memory and there is nothing on the PC horizon this year to justify that expense. Besides, who knows what Intel will have available early next year (or AMD with the K8L for that matter)..
The price of the X2s may just be worth the upgrade for desktop work..

your better off getting the x2 3800 and overclocking to be honest with you my x2 4800 overclocks very poorly and so do the others i have seen compared to the x2 3800
The recent X2 3800+'s aren't overclocking very well so i'd go for the 4400+ instead. These are very cheap now.
