i am to be upgrading my PC soon but i cant decide what to get first.
i could get a Intel Core 2 DUO set up and then upgrade my graphics card at a later date or maybe get a new graphics card then got for a E6600 setup ,
but looking at my spec which should i upgrade first?
,

well your current card is still very good so a proccessor upgrade would probably be best first, that card you got will last you a bit longer easily :)

I'd also say that you are likely to see the biggest benefit in going to a new (dual core) CPU rather than upgrading the graphics card as the X1900XT is still a very good card. :)

From your sig I see you have an 1900XT. Personally I'd stick with the X1900 and get the E6600. DX10 cards will be more mainstream next year and ATI will release their R600.

I'd agree with the others and say get the CPU upgrade first as that should give you the most noticeable difference in performance. Maybe look at an E6300, Artic Freezer 7 Pro, Gigabyte DS3 and then some Cellshock DDR2 RAM

funny enough ive just been looking at the Gigabyte DS3 , it looks like a good motherboard.
ive never had a go at overclocking before and might give it a go once i get my new processor :)

i've made several systems lately, with s3, ds3 and ds4, all easy to OC, when i moved to a C2D from a pd840(dual core), i kept the same x1900xtx, and saw a significant perfomance diff in games especially far cry, bf2 etc, no doubt the new card will be better but the cpu will give a big hike imo

seems to me a few people have trouble with the DS3's, myself included.

I got this rig, today and i am amazed at how fast it loads things e.t.c its just superb definatly go with the core duo, its beautiful.
Your vga is decent anyways, like some others have said.

Core duo all the way baby!

Hey mate, that sig is far too big, 4 lines maximum only i'm afraid. So change it before a mod does it for you. ;)

And yes, definitely get a C2D you will not regret it in the slightest! Loads things superfast and coupled with your X1900, games will look and play awesome.

i agree.

from the testign ive been doing ive found the 88's seem to be Very bottlenecked by the CPU, even stupidly high clocked C2D theres still room for improvement.

so yes, if i were you id go for the new CPU.
