Upgrade to EVGA 1080 ti SC2 for < $300?

So, a guy on CL here in SF has a SC2 (in warranty) for sale and I've got him down to $500... Should I take it or na? I've got a 980 ti FTW edition and it's starting to show age with new games. I game at 1440p so it would be nice having extra headroom, specially for 144hz.

I can easily sell my 980 ti for $200 seeing as they are going for > $250.

I am not happy with the new pricing of nvidia and won't be going 4k anytime soon. Thoughts?

If you've got a strong enough CPU then the 1080Ti is great for 1440 gaming. I have a 4790k and an EVGA 1080Ti FTW 3 hooked up to a 1440 gsync monitor. All games run smooth and look fantastic with all the extras turned to ultra. I've not owned a game yet where the CPU doesn't hold the GPU back. Assassin's creed origins gives the CPU a good run for its money but no bottleneck so far.

EVGA have transferable warranty, so peace of mind for a second owner.

I'm running a none delidded 8700k on air at 4.5Ghz (any higher and it's too hot). So I don't think the CPU will be the bottleneck, i replaced a 3570k I previously had which held back the 980ti here and there.

I think I'm going to go for it, the SC2 and the FTW3 are identical aside from the cooling so if you're happy that makes me happy

It's the little things like that as well, being able to crank a newly released game to max and not worry, when I got the 980 ti that was the case, but now it's just barely holding that throne and I'm having to crank a setting here and there down to maintain a steady 60fps.
