I would like to know how you magically over few days first increase the budget from 500 to 900, then to 1100 and now to over 1400.

I just don't think it's worth it, would still go with the phenom just with the small exception that ill wait a week or two now and get the new 965BE : ).
Either way you choose, the 295 is overkill.
Just get 1 275 or 4890 and then if this isnt enough for you ( and I bet it will be more than enough ) get another one for SLI/CF.

That review doesn't really say much, all I see there is phenom winning in some games and i7 in the other ones ? Where the most difference on either side is about 2-10%.

Across all of the games and all of the resolutions we tested, the Phenom II system delivered frame rates just as playable as the Core i7 system.
