Hi

im wanting to upgrage my e6500 and 2gb ram to a Q6600 and 4gb 1066mhz ram.

I have a corsair 520w PSU. will this run the new system?

i cant decide between the 2 following boards, whats the major differences?

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-101-GI&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1485 - £47

and

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-172-GI&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1155 - £76

I only game on CSS, but love a speedy system and my current system is slowly but surely dying.

Help is appreciated, my gfx card is a Radeon 1950 pro.

Also is the Q6600 a better processor then the E8400?

Thankyou

The Q6600 will give you a decent boost in applications that support more than 2 cores.

An overclock will give it an even greater boost.

Your graphics card seems to be slowing your games down a bit rather than your cpu though.

A quick glance at the mobos shows that the more expensive one has raid while the cheaper one doesn't.

thanks for the reply

i have the E6550 overclocked at 3ghz, prime 95 stable :)

the whole upgrade is going to cost around £225, im not sure if i want to go raid as i was just planning on buying an 1TB drive in the near future to pair with my current 150GB.

I have the ep45-ud3lr with a q6600 @ 3.2ghz (400x8) + gtx 275 oc'ed all running from the same 520w corsair psu no problems at all.
Great mobo and very stable for overclocking.
