Hi,

i have a 2 year old OCUK self build pc, X800XL,1 gig Geil Pc3200, 160g sata, AMD 64 3200+ 939, pioneer 109, Foxconn NF4UK8AA-8EKRS NF4..

I cant get a complete new pc at the moment so what shall i upgrade first or do i need a new mobo, cpu and gfx all together?

Mike

Your best getting a new mobo/cpu/ram/graphics as you have an AGP system I presume. Or you can buy a Asrock 4CoreDual-VSTA (Socket 775) PCI-Express/AGP DDR2 Motherboard, which as you can see supports AGP/PCI-E, DDR and DDR II so you can just put in your old gfx/mem and only need to buy mobo/cpu.

It depends. What do you do mostly with the pc now? If you don't game much then it would be silly upgrading the graphics card. If you don't do any encoding it would be pretty silly going quad core. So we need to know what you will be using the computer for really.

I do all sorts of things, gaming is the problem at the moment as my X880 isnt shader3 so the new stuff wont run at all... spiderman, dirt etc..

Mainly if i get an 8800 is that alone with my cpu i have ok or what cpu can i put on my board.. im not sure if it supports dualcore? Otherwise i suppose a new mobo, cpu and gfx is a near new pc...

N-Force 4 is PCIe chipset, so his graphics card is not AGP. Get a new graphics card.

The 8800 is a hungry horse. Not sure if the Intel mobo would be happy with your psu.
Plus it isn't ATX2.2 But is a good make.

Are you after a DirectX10 graphics card or a SM3 card, they are not the same thing.

Nvidia 8800 and ATI X2900 are directX10.
The Nvidia 7series and ATI 1x00 are SM3
