currently i have a wireless G mini pci-e wireless card, looks a lot like this:

and i wanted to upgrade to wireless N same as the rest of the things on my network.

the laptop is an acer aspire i believe,

there are not any screw mounting holes for the VERY tiny cards, only the ones that are about twice the length.

i have 2 internal arieal ports, but would be pretty confident to add a third

i have been looking at this currently

Atheros AR5008 AR5BXB72 802.11N 300M Mini PCI-E Card(from china for £13....)

i am totaly clueless about these so i dont really know what im looking for, but i know i would like upto 300mb's

Which acer aspire is it?

I have recently upgraded my 5920 to the 5300agn from the 4965agn wireless card although both N the 5300 will run at double the speed and works great although I have to fix an issue where it does not work properly when coming out of standby.

What router do you have?

acer aspire, 5735 i believe off the top of my head, so its a wireless G atm, and my router is a belkin something something, which runs wireless N upto 300mb

Something something?

Wireless N is a lot more complicated than just supporting 300mbit, there are a few other things to look at, does it run at 2.4ghz or 5ghz? What channel widths does it support? How many send and receive antennas does it have?

sorry i didnt know,

its a belkin F5D8233-4-v1(01A) (according to the setup page) running latest firmware WPA2 64bit hex key and mac address filtering

it has 2 antennae im guessing one is send and 1 is recieve
