Hey all,

I’m looking to upgrade the PC to handle newer games at levels other than their lowest setting! Total budget for upgrade is £200. Can sell the old part if it is worth anything to increase budget.

Current primary parts are:

Radeon HIS HD 7850 2GB
Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz
Gigabyte SKT-1155 Z77-D3H Motherboard
Cooler Master Silent Pro Modular 500W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply
Adata XPG Gaming v1.0 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz
Samsung 128GB 830 SSD SATA 6GBPS 2.5
Seagate Barracuda 3.5 inch 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB 6GB/S Internal SATA Drive

How would you upgrade this to provide the best bang for buck here. I would guess graphics card is the focus.

Cheers for the help in advance

would agree with what you said, mobo, ram and cpu is fine so would replace the GPU.

what monitor do you have and what ress do you game at?

You could go a decent monitor or a new GPU but not both for £200...a bit more perhaps when you sell on your older GPU

£150 gets you a new 380 card if you stay with AMD

...leaving you £50 to go towards a new monitor. If you sell the 7850 for £30/40 odd quid then you only really need another £30 or so to get a decent 1920x1080 screen https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus...n-led-multimedia-monitor-black-mo-028-as.html

Cheers for input guys.

If I did stretch to the 390, then please could you confirm whether the existing parts would handle it?

Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz - Would this be a serious bottleneck?
Gigabyte SKT-1155 Z77-D3H Motherboard - Can this board handle the card?
Cooler Master Silent Pro Modular 500W Power Supply - Is this sufficient?

If the existing parts can't handle the card, then its not an option sadly.

The psu would need replacing. It's a poor unit with a very weak 12v rail of only 408w.

The cpu and motherboard will be fine. The motherboard will probably need updating to the latest bios though. That cpu should be overclocked as well if it isn't already.

Thanks guys. With a power supply also needed, the 390 will be out of budget.

Is an upgrade to the R9 380 possible on that PSU? Or is any GPU upgrade in essence going to require a new PSU?
