Hi peeps. I need some advice. I want to upgrade my computer to play some of the newer games. I'm also going to build my family a newer one as well because they've destroyed the old one. My current spec is:

C2D E6420 @2.8GHz
Asus P5N-E SLi
Geil 2GB PC6400 DDR2
7800GTX
OCZ Modstream 450W
1x250GB WD
1x160GB Samsung
Antec SLK3700 case

The new family computer will need the following:
cpu, mobo, ram, gfx, case, psu, hdd
It will be used mainly for word/web browsing and some light gaming.

Now for the family computer budget is about £350/400, and for upgrading my computer I'm going to spend £200-300. I can either sell my old parts, or put them in the family computer and charge them for the part(s).

My initial idea is something along the lines of:
-Get 8800GT and a Corsair PSU and maybe a new case for myself.
-Put current gfx, psu and maybe case into the family computer
-Fill the rest of the family computer with cheap c2d, 2gb ram and 250gb hdd

Does this sound like a good idea or do you think I should go about it another way? Any advice as to particular parts would be appreciated as well.

Thanks.

i would get yourself an 8800 GT and psu and give your spare bits to the other family machine

maybe get another 250gig WD and run them in RAID0
