Upgrade worth it ? or wait?

I am currently toying with the idea to upgrade my rig. I am not sure yet though, and thinking of waiting till the prices drop a little.

Currently running Q6600 @ 3GHZ, with 4GB of Reaperx 1000MHZ ram, with a 4850.

Am considering the idea to get an I7 with 6GB, I do a lot of photoshop and dreamweaver - but then maybe I should just save up, wait for windows 7 to be released and then grab everything at once?

yea i'm in the same boat as you also got a q6600 at 3ghz with a 4850 and 4gig of ram. However i don't use photoshop or dreamweaver. I'm personally going to wait until the next set of chips come out as the q6600 hasn't struggled with anything so far. Only upgrade i am considering is crossfire with 4850s at £75 now. I say if it aint broke don't fix it, if your rig struggles with stuff yeah upgrade why not, if it doesn't why bother?

i hav the same cpu not struggled with it yet and i use maya 2009 ect only thing i am changing is my 4850 to a gtx 285 two reasons maya dont like ati cards and secondly i want to play my games at full power

Yeah, I think I will wait. Nothing is really struggling at the moment - it was more a moment of wanting to put together a new shiny PC rather than I need it

haha i know the feeling, luckily for me my brother needed a new pc so i got to build a new one anyways

. Yea think you made the right decision to wait, might as well wait until your system starts struggling then buy then. No doubt there'll be some new thing out by then that we'll all be ranting about.
