Hey guys and girls.

My pc used to be pretty good, a few years ago.

I cant afford a new system at the moment so would like some advice on where to go for now.

I have

MSI K8N Diamond mobo
AMD 64 FX-55
2 gig of gaming ram PC 3200 i think
XFX geforce 6800 ultra 512mb
Creative audigy card.

So i'm thinking that the system could handle a gfx card upgrade?

If so what would be a good card to look at on a medium budget? I take it that even a cheap card is a lot faster than the card i have in there at the moment?

I dont do a lot of pc gaming but there are some new sims on the way that i want to play

I-racing
DCS black shark
storm of war

So i would like the card to be transferable to a new cpu/mobo combo in the future.

My current card is pci-e but i dont think my mobo is ver 2.0 ? i dont have the box etc anymore so i'm not to sure.

Ah so my cpu is too slow to get the benefits out of a 8800 card?

So say i had £500 what would my best options be? or is my current system scrap?

You won't get full benefit from the graphics card, but it would certainly make a big difference and is a much cheaper / simpler upgrade :)

Yea see i used to buy the fastest thing available all the time, but am unable to do that anymore.

So i figured a new gfx card would boost me through till i can go for a better cpu/mobo etc.

I dont want to get something that wont be of any use when i do finally get a new cpu/mobo!

I suppose its the vicious circle of computer components!

The good thing i guess is that the system i have is old and slow compared to todays stuff, so even a medium spec new build should give me huge performance boosts.

Thanks for your input so far people
