Hi Chaps,

My specs are under my sig, tomorrow i'm getting a new case and 700w powersupply as my Hiper 580W finally died after 5 years of abuse. I'm planning on making a new build next year but i would like to get some extra performance for the next 6 months, my question is what graphics card do you think is a good upgrade for me? something thats a decent improvement over my 8800GTS 512mb. At the moment i play with medium quality 1920x1200 resolution with minimal xAA and some features off. I'm currently looking at either a GTX460 or ATI 5850. Budget is around £200.

Advice appreciated :)

I'd suggest Crossfire 5770's as 2x 5770= a 5870
Its a little over your budget but in comparison to a 5870 price, you save about £100.

And im sure you can find some bargains on them over the internet, as according to a thread a lot of them are being sold.

My motherboard is SLi only so thats not an option man. I was led to believe an overclocked 5850 was as good as a stock 5870? I do like overclocking and squeezing the very max performance i can get out of a component :)

I think when it says SLi its because nVidia have paid the company to brand it as being SLi compatible, meaning it can also run 2 ATI cards.

Still, I am not 100% so you would need to get confirmation on that.

EDIT

I have found out my information is incorrect.
Apologies.

Hm...you seriously need to have a read up on SLI and Crossfire. They are complete different tech, and whether or not a motherboard support SLI, Crossfire or both, it depends on the chipsets and design of the motherboard.

An alternative to the 5850 is to get either a 460 or a 470 with the option of adding another at a later date if required seen as though you have a SLI ready mobo.
