Upgrade worth it?

I currently have a I7 2600K (1155) and i am looking to go right on up to the I7 4770K (1150).

Is that upgrade worth it? Changing the board, and the processor? (So far as i know my H100 is compatible)

Alternately. What would be the best bet for me to upgrade to staying on 1155?

I do mainly gaming, games like Arma 3 and BF4, (Arma being VERY CPU heavy) so i need the upgrade as it is bottlenecking my 780TI.

Thanks!

Rob

Is your cpu at stock or overclocked? Tbh an i7 4770k wont make a massive difference in games.

It is stock at 3.4 GHz. I think it is my CPU bottle-necking, as buddies who have lower end cards and higher (4670+) CPU's are getting about 30 more frames than me in games like Arma? (Which is very CPU heavy)

Id invest in a good aftermarket cooler and oc the cpu a bit. The sb chips oc quite well and run much cooler than the hw series. At stock the cpu will be a bottleneck with a very powerful card like the 780TI

I have a Corsair H100. I previously got it to 4.8 before it started to become unstable. Im a noob at overclocking so i think ill stick to 4.5. It was stable and cool at that speed.

If you have known stable settings for 4.5ghz, thats where id set it at. H100 will be grand for cooling it.

It's not worth it that much, though if you do plan to upgrade ignore the 4770K and wait for the Haswell refresh of the K CPUs which should be out soon :)

unless you can get a good deal on a second hand haswell, I'd stick with what you've got for now and as the others said, OC it

Ok. Seems to be stable on my old 4.4 profile. 4.5 is Blue screening. 4.4 seems close enough for me.

I will see if i notice any improvements. If not i may take your suggestion Smoogels, and wait for the Haswell refresh.
