Hey,

So i'm toying with the idea of going i7..

Firstly do you recommend it having gone from a core2?

Would there be noticable gains?

Assuming i went down that route would i be able to keep my PSU or are they power hungry chips.

If i didnt go i7 i was thinking of either grabbing another 4850 & larger monitor.

Would would you do with my spec for around £4-500?

Thanks. :)

This is basically the cheapest i7 upgrade you can get at the moment:

The PSU should be fine with you 4850 and the i7.

The i7 is obviously significantly faster than your current dual core, and in any CPU bound or multi threaded tasks the i7 will win hands down. However, in non threaded gaming you won't see massive differences.

Personally, I say go i7 then upgrade around the new platform if required.

save another £300 and get an i7 rig lol

Any why do i need another £300 if ive got half the components already?
