Hi all, i was looking at some of the new shiny items that are out now such as the 4870 etc and i was wondering if i should upgrade anything that i have got.

I use my PC for gaming, COD4, Unreal Tournament 3, Half-life 2 (Episode 2 Engine) Crysis and other games that require lots of graphics :)

My specs (also in my sig but oh well)
E2180 @2.00Ghz (im not keen on overclocking)
Geil 2GB 800mhz
HD 3870
P5kMobo
750GB HDD space

I also use my computer as a TV

(Res 1680x1050)

That CPU is an overclocking beast, overclock to 3.0ghz (easy) and you'll see a massive performance increase, why are you not keen on it?

Uhm maybe an aftermarket cooler for the CPU and the guys on here will give you perfect advice on squeezing a lot of extra power out of thaqt CPU. THen look at RAM or GPU

You have a P5K and a E2180 and run them at stock. Give yourself a slap!! That is a damn fine overclocking combination and you may even see 3.6Ghz. Get yourself a decent cooler and get clocking. ;)

Got the same CPU and although i can't get mine higher, 3GH is still a big increase and well worth it (i'm on stock cooler) as everyone says overclock and get another 2gig of ram + the GPU you already want

what is the budget?

i would go 2gb more ram and then a new gfx card, after that the next step woudl either be a quad core or a 24" high def monitor :)

overclock

Keen or not, you must must must overclock that 2180. Its all that CPU has to live for. You dont have to kill it, but get it to 2.5GHz, check performance difference.

In terms of spending ... whats the budget.

I would get another 2gb ram and leave it as it is.

For at least 2more months and see how the GPU prices and CPU cuts are looking.

i would overclock - research it - ask on here if you are stuck - people are generally willing to share their thoughts!

also for the price of ram you could consider that
