Hi Im in the process of upgrading my pc at the moment i have a Asus A7V8X-X mother board with a athlon xp 2800 cpu air cooled and 1 gig of 3200 ram and i was going to swap it to a thermaltake tsunami dream case with a hyper psu and water cooling by waterchill but im now thinking of fitting a new motherboard and CPU can anyone suggest a M/B and CPU for around £150 to £200 that will be a improvment on my setup now.

DFI Infinity NForce4 + Socket 939 Opteron 146. This is an 'overclockers' forum so this is an o/clock required option. Potentially you could have the Opteron running @ FX55 speeds or above making it great value for money.

Thanks for the info my athlon xp is running at about 2500mhz at the moment but with watercooling i could try and push a new cpu a bit further.
Just looking around now cpu seem to change every day when i built this one it was ahtlon or duron or P4 now when i look round there are duel core /semprons / 64 bit etc etc and wanted a bit of advice what route to follow .

Depends what you use it for. going water may not get you much improvement and instead you could be onto socket 939 and 64 bit.

also correct me if i'm wrong but xp-m's and socket A Chips in general dont have SSE3 do they? if you intend to ply quake 4 etc , you will need it...
