Hi guys

I have a AMD 64 socket 939 3000 Venice
1GB generic RAM
6600GT AGP 128MB graphics card
Asus A8V mobo

what difference would it make upgrading to a 7800GS AGP card?

oppps. EDITTED: to say 7800GS. i originally posted a 700GS lol

I have oblivion - but not played yet, due to wanting a better GFX card, the game runs with average setting, I want all the gubbings on!

I have Oblivion, with maximum settings (not the patched version) it still stutters. It could be dual core, I'll try disabling the second one.

If you intend to use the ATI hotfix with HDR, AA and AF enabled fps drops to around 15fps apparently. So you'll need Octoplet X1900's! :D

yeah, don't expect it to be perfect even with my recommendation. Just will be a lot better than the AGP 7800 setup for the same price range and will give you more possibilities later.

money, is the major problem atm.

I have found a mobo which will accept both AGP and PCI-E cards.

what are these things like?

thats the bugger. I have found one for sale for £49.95 plus £5pnp

I could then get my X1800XT next month!
Sounds like I have a plan

the 7800GS is £169.95 + VAT, £10 more than an X1800XT.

If you are quick, you can get the following off the clearance section. That's only £13.50 more for a far superior setup. If you flog your old mobo for £15, it works out cheaper......

**B Grade** Asus A8N-E nForce4 Ultra (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard (BG-139-AS)
Originally sold at £69.95+VAT

Price: £20.00 (£23.50 Including VAT at 17.5%)
