Got around ~£150 to spare total, and am looking to upgrade the spec in my signature.

Current PSU is Hiper (hence the choice to upgrade sooner rather than later). Was thinking of getting a Corsair, but what's the difference between there old/current models (been out of the loop for a while), and have there been any new contenders on the market?

Current RAM is OCZ Platinum PC6400 (not the XTC) and often overheats and causes artifacts (I'm assuming it's the ram seeing as the 8800's heatsinc is always relatively cool, where as the RAM is almost scalding. Is it worth getting some better RAM (ie. Crucial Ballistix / Corsair C4).

Any other reccomendations?

Thanks in advance.

Edit: large, cheap HDD reccomendations would be good too, sound over speed (to an extent)

PSU - Corsairs are many peoples favourites & from what I've read with good reason.

Changed my Hiper 580 R this week as was worried myself. (not with any personal justification I would add - it was just over a year old and NEVER missed a beat - but had read so many other persons horror stories...)

Looked at Corsairs,Seasonic's ,Tagans,PC power and Emermex but was put off by price/performance ratio.

Also with Corsair I understand the RMA is back to the states which also put me off - to a lot of users this is/has been irrelavent.

Had decided on OCZ Gamexstream 600 - to be advised by a couple of former uses that such was loud so cancelled that.

In end went for a Coolermaster M700 which is nice and quiet, appears well built with a 3 yr warranty (Corsairs have 5) , modular (simple to use) cabling and price is a little less than Seasonic's etc

Read a review that said such psu happily ran gtx's in sli etc - rated by nvidia as good for gt's in sli

Cannot comment on Ram ? as still using DDR1
