i am thinking about getting a quad core and not sure should i get a q6600 or AMD's 9850 or 9750 or should i wait for that new intel arcitecture?

yea but new amd quads claim to have fixed problems and now they say thier new quads preform better than q6600 same price too..

Basically, the Phenom is competitive (at last) but still not as fast as the Core 2s.

Some pretty fair responses.
The top phenom is now about on par with the q6600 & for a similar price. AMD are sorting it out gradually. But it consumes more power than it ought to really. It also doesn't overclock to any great extent compared to intel's efforts. You'll get a bit more for your money motherboard - wise on the am2+ platform than intel. The Phenoms seem to be overpriced here compared with the US (I mean relative to the intel quads). Apparently price cuts are heading our way at some point.
Overall, Phenom is now a reasonable proposition for the non overclocker but it needs to be a bit cheaper & I'll still build mates an intel based machine in that sort of price bracket at the moment.
