I had a gigabyte ex58-ud5 but I would like to upgrade to gigabyte ex58 extreme motherboard because the extreme had more cooling board or make no difference ?

Obviously these guys know what thy're talking about, but just to clarify, afaik the extreme comes with custom chipset coolers ready for WC, can also be used for air but its basically designed as a ready to go WC board, other than that its exactly the same as the normal UD5

The results you get from the Extreme are also nominally better than the UD5 due to the generic thermal interface compound used by Gigabyte to insure safe shipment. No point upgrading the heatsink/cooling if the contact is not there in the first place. :)

I am a huge fan of the Gigabyte boards and the Extreme is an amazing board, however the UD5 for cheaper does exactly the same so it is the value overclocking king.

One of the better upgrades you can make for the UD5 is some decent airflow in your case, get some good air moving over the board and it can make the world of difference to what you can get out of it.

What qualifies as a world of difference? I'm looking to start using a 920 with the UD5 in the near future and trying to weigh up the pros and cons of watercooling the board. If airflow makes a significant difference then it's an argument in favour.

I know the other approach is to strap fans all over the board, but I'm more tempted by the waterblocks at the moment. Cheers
