Upgrade

Looking at an upgrade around £400-500 budget.

Have:
Case
PSU (450W Corsair)
DVD drive (SATA)
*OS* (Windows 7)
Possibly GPU
HDD

Looking for 2 options, 1 with a GPU and 1 without. Both on the same budget.

Mainly gaming rig.

For giggles a build with an SSD on the same budget too but this isn't needed.

No use in a 2600k over a 2500k as it wont be used for anything that will use HT.

I think a 6850 or 6870 would be better for the money on the GPU.

Stock cooler will be fine, I have a cooler available in a couple of weeks so it will be changed then. 450W should be fine but it all depends how far the upgrade goes.

Thats what I though with the GPU and AMD build. I know the 2500k is a much better proc but the savings you can make for a decent preformance with an AMD build means more money for GPU

How does a 1090 compare to the 970/975? Are the extra threads only going to be noticed in things like video rendering and such?
