Hi all,

I'm looking to upgrade my PC which is;
Core duo e6600, 2gig ram, 8800gtx, corsair 520w psu, antec p182 case

My aim is to make my system as future proof as possible and would ideally like to spend as little as possible while also getting a good gaming spec.

The spec I've though of so far is as follows;

MSI GeForce GTX 570 OC Twin FrozR III Power Edition 1280MB GDDR5 PCI-£254.99
Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - OEM £163.99
Asus P8Z68-V Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £131.99
Corsair Enthusiast Series TX 850W V2 High Performance '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CMPSU-850TXV2UK)
Corsair Vengeance Blue 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B) £47.99
Corsair A50 High-Performance CPU Cooler (Socket AM2/AM3/LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366) £23.99

Total : £734.93

In the future plan on SLI'ing the 570 as the benchmarks I've seen show that these in SLI are almost as good as a 580 in SLI. This is why I've gone 850w for the PSU and I'm hoping that the PSU wont need to be upgraded during my next upgrade in a couple of years time.

I also have a couple of questions;
1. Will I be able to re-use by old hard drive without having to re-format?
2. The O/S I have is vista (on disc and on my old HD), however, I also have a laptop which has a windows 7 install disc, will I be able to use this disc on my PC?

Thanks in advance :)

hmm I think I may upgrade the HD as well then.

What are the benefits of sata 6gbs compared with sata-2? Also can anyone tell me the difference between the weston digital caviar black and blue?

For a mechanical drive SATA6gb/s is pointless and they cant even max out a SATA3gb/s interface, but they come with them now anyways.

Just get the cheapest out of Samaung F3/Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 and the WD Black.

As for the difference between the Blue and black?

Select on the right version of the drive (capacity and interface speed) and the details come up.

If you take the 500GB 6gb/s versions of both drives,

The Black has a bigger buffer, lower access times.
