Currently have q6700 @ 3.30, asus maximus 2 formula and 6gig of some crappy 677 ddr2 ram.

Will

bB5s

Be much of an improvement? I am a huge multitask person, usually have 20 - 30 tabs open on chrome, notepad++, eclipse ide, irc and various other things running. I do game allot and I do run dual screens and have a 120 gig SSD if that makes any difference.

I am on a tight budget and have had this rig a good few years, so must be time for an upgrade.

The Q6700 is still a good cpu, but I would look at Sandybridge setup:

Does your case accept ATX motherboards and what is the make / model of your PSU.

an i5 2500k would blow that thing out of the water. i'm not sure of your budget, but something like this would be great:

1 x Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail £184.99
1 x Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £99.98

*edit*
thanks for spotting that RJC. does your case accept ATX motherboards, or just mATX?

I have the Coolermaster Storm and 800W Xilence PSU. So yes and yes I believe, just want best bang for money, will I see much of an improvement with the i5 and what is it like for clocking?

Budget wise is not a huge problem, by tight I mean I don't have 100's to spend but can add to the budget if need be, talking 260 - 350, unless going up from the i5 is worth a couple of weeks wait then will have 500 or so.

You be fine with the ATX board, the I5's are fairly easy in overclocking of just moving the multiplier, I should know better once the end of week when my new system arrives :)
