My computer which is currently in my Signature is running all the games I play smoothly however my computer on boot is rather slow and applications take a while to load would you recommend I buy a 60GB SSD and put Windows 7 on it. I also play World Of Warcraft i've heard that having a fast write/read time on your SSD benefits games such as World of Warcraft because it's always loading textures.

Thanks for reading :D

Hi
A SSD would improve load up, but for your games to improve you would also need them on it too, which would mean youd prob need bigger than 60gig, so you could go for 128 ish if you want to put a couple games on too, another alternative would be to get a hybrid drive like this, currently out of stock though

Ok thanks for response, Ok perhaps I need a bigger SSD because of operating system and games but in World of Warcraft and Minecraft things that are changing all the time with the textures will an SSD increase the performance say FPS ? I also like that suggestion of the hybrid drive is it as quick as a 120GB though? 500mb/s write and read or is it a lot faster than a 7200 RPM but with 500 gb's of memory? :D

a SSD for WoW would be a good improvement. WoW is massive, so I'd get a 128GB M4 or something like that. Not all games benefit equally from a SSD, but WoW would be one of them (also, Skyrim works well too). You will need to re-install the OS though.

SSD won't improve FPS but it will improve load times when changing levels / areas etc.

toms hardware have a review of the momentus XT (hybrid) vs. regular momentus (7200RPM HDD) and in most of the measurements the XT hybrid was slower than a regular hard drive

it was basically only faster on windows boot and your most regularly used apps (which might not be the ones you really want the improvement on)

a regular SSD is your best bet

Ok what 120GB one do you recommend the M4? and Andybird you say it won't improve FPS but in WOW if it loads things quickly it will be a more stable FPS for example the MIN fps would be lower due to the texture's loading a lot faster and zoning it and out :)

Thanks for the replies guys :D

WOW and other MMORPGS (i play rift) take up loads of space, with regular patches, textures etc, so you'll want a 90GB or ideally a 120GB.

If you put win 7, WOW, Office, maybe a few other games, you will have easily filled up the 60GB disk!

Will it improve the performance of the MMORPG Though.

When I got mine load times were considerably shortened (I had a 7200rpm 320GB samsung job before), and I can't really gauge FPS as I also got a new graphics card so I don't know what FPS difference was made by the SSD and what by the card - if you get me :/

I see what you mean man :) I'm thinking on WoW it will probably increase the FPS because it can load everyone and anything a lot quicker :) in the main cities especially.
