Upgrade

got the upgrade itch, was just curious as to how much of a performance improvement id get from upgrading my current rig (phenom 2 x4 955 @ 4ghz cpuz link below) to a core i5 3570k (which ill overclock)

or would i be better throwin the money into a 120hz monitor? or even a new gpu?

I'd say go intel and get that cpu, just ordered mine 2 days ago. It performs 3x better than my current Phenom II x4 965 Black Edition.

New CPU for sure because a GPU such as the radeon 7950 for example would be bottlenecked by the phenom ii 955.

I'm thinking those, should easily hit 4.5-5ghz right? or could i get same performance for cheaper?

Pay extra for retail. 2 years extra warranty (your choice really but worth paying extra pennies for extra cover ?)

that setup should hit 4.5 nicely. i think 4.2-4.5 is average overclock on those processors.

Don't forget you'll need an aftermarket cooler too unless you're planning to fry eggs with the stock one
