Hey guys,

Just wondering about my current rig, I am tempted to upgrade it but I don't want to pay a fortune, spec is in my sig, can anyone offer any input as to whether it's worth upgrading yet? My budget at present would be about 200 max if I do go for the upgrade :)

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £179.99
1 x Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £89.99
1 x GeIL Black Dragon 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (GD38GB1600C11DC) £23.99
Total : £305.36 (includes shipping : £9.50).

There will be a noticeable difference, especially when gaming.
Here's a link to a comparison between the i5 and your current CPU:

That does look good :O do amd not have an equivalent of that i5? I've been rather partial to amd recently :P

I notice the framerates between my current cpu and the i5 are massively different for wow, which is the game i play most :)

Can someone keep me up to date on this as well, is Ivybridge the most current i3/5/7 release? I am totally out on pc hardware at the moment, I don't have anywhere near as much time as I like to spend on here

With a rig like yours i would'nt bother with the current generation of cpu's. I would wait until Haswell and it's new socket is released next year. If you upgrade to Ivybridge now you will not have a upgrade path.

I'll do some research on Haswell then :) I can't reallllllly afford it at the moment anyway so I'd be better to wait!
