Good Afternoon,

I am currently fighting the severe itch to upgrade even though I know I don't really need to do a real major upgrade just yet but was curious of what your thoughts were on going SLI which would mean a mobo upgrade is needed for definite. I have overclocked my CPU but the temps are a little questionable so need a decent cooler to maybe push a little more and control those temps

So my current spec:

CPU: i5 2500k @ 4.4ghz - idles @ 32-33 can reach @ 81-82 on full load
Mobo: Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 Intel Z68 (Rev.1)
RAM: G.Skill RipJawsX 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 680 1058MHz 2GB SuperClocked
PSU: OCZ ZX Series 1000W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply
OS SSD: OCZ Vertex 3 60GB
SSD #2: Intel X-25M 80GB
HDD: Seagate Barracuda Green 2TB SATA 6Gb/s Hard Drive

So I can probably get together about £600-700 now so save it? or spend it?

Thanks, Long time reader so decided to finally register and post :)

My case is Cooler Master HAF 922
and the current cooler is: Akasa X4 AK-968 CPU Cooler

Edit for correction on cooler, my friend gave it too me a while back.

Worth it?

P.S. That RAM seems a waste of money to be honest :( Especially if it's for gaming / general use.

Hehe thanks for mentioning that I didn't even notice I selected x 2 on them. I don't really need 16GB so I will ring tomorrow and get that sorted first thing I might even consider taking your advice and dropping completely.

Wow, £100 for 8GB of Sammy Green - gone up ~£40 over the past few months. I've read it's going end of life very soon and new kit coming so I'd cancel if I were you.

Well I am definitely adjusting my order tomorrow and I probably will just remove both from my order, I selected delivery date for the 27th as I am working and away for a few days anyway

Well I spoke to OCuK today to sort out the Samsung Green Issue and while on the phone I decided to change my order to the following:

I thought what the heck why not eh? lol I can recover a bit of the extra cost even if only a little bit by selling my i5 2500k, maybe even the mobo as someone might want a cheap Z68 board on fleabay. Either way I get some new tech to play around with and the new smell woot woot

Actually, I prefer the Asus Hero. :p

I was actually trying to decide between that mobo and the one I picked for a ages... the poor guy on the other end of the phone. In the end from what I have read I would be happy with either and I have used Gigabyte a lot more so comfort zone and all that.
