upgrade?

What are you hoping to get from this upgrade? From the build in your sig all I would upgrade is the GPU. That i7 950 is still a pretty epic CPU.

hmm, now you have me thinking. I have been out of touch on cpus for the last few years and figured my 950 would be old hat by now.....
Ok, I mainly use my rig for Cubase, world of warcraft, the occasional game and some video editing.
What would you suggest GPU wise? I have been disappointed with the 660ti to be honest, frequent kernel errors in nvida driver, stuttering in wow during raids etc

If you feel your CPU needs an upgrade (or if you just want an upgrade) I'd at least wait for Haswell-E to come out later this year - maybe that will give a worthwhile performance boost. There isn't really anything out there that can justify the cost of replacing what you currently have.

How much would you be looking to spend on a GPU? MSI's 780 Gaming is bargain at £360 right now, or for a bit less (~£260) you could get a 280X. Both would be a good increase over the 660ti.

A 780 won't be bottlenecked, so I doubt a 780ti would be. 750w is more than enough for either.

Whether the 780ti is worth the £250 you'll be paying over the 780 is another question ;)

Possibly against my better judgement , the geek gadget boy in me came out..
Today I ordered:
EVGA GeForce GTX 780Ti Superclock ACX 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (03G-P4-2884-KR)
Intel Core i7 4770K Haswell Quad Core CPU OC to 4.2
Gigabyte z87x-oc mobo
16g teamgroup Vulcan red

Hopefully I should be able to pull back a few quid on ebay with my old cpu, mobo, ram, cooler

Meh, I suppose :) Not much real point in it (imo) but you should get a good performance boost either way and enjoy it at the same time :)
