Upgrade ?

Currently got and i7 930 @ 3.99ghz 6 gb triple channel ram 750w corsair psu and an msi r9 270x all in an antec 902 gaming case... I'm possibly thinking of selling the 270 and upgrading to a non reference 290 as they seem to be cheap atm ! How much of a performance gain would I see gaming at 1080p ? Do you think it's worth doing and would the rest of my system spec handle a 290 ok as it is like 4 year old now ..
 
Na, you can keep it here, as its not JUST a GPU specific question.

I think it will be bottlenecked by your CPU and motherboard. Firstly due to the Gen2 PCI-E, secondly your CPU limited, even with a healthy OC.

Is it worth it (getting a 290)? Probably.
Will you see a massive improvmenet? Not really.
 
That does surprise me to hear you say that Doomedspeed, I know you know your stuff :)
I thought you would see a massive improvement tbh and didnt think the CPU would bottleneck it much, not 1 card anyway.

Well i havn't tested such a thing but i would think that it would be a fairly limiting factor.

You will see some improvment but i think its a case of seeing 280/280X levels rather than 290 levels of performance.
